3 items Letters (MS)
Ades, Remy
All of the correspondence is from Adès. In the first letter, 18.12.39, he describes his military duties with an AA battery at Stanmore and debates joining JH [in service in a Scots’ Guards skiing battalion]. The next item is a photostat of an 8th Army 1944 Christmas greetings cable. The last item is a letter, 8.1.45, congratulating JH on his marriage, giving news of mutual friends, and venturing the opinion that ‘viewing the war from the Italian front it does not look as if I shall get home for some years’.
Another letter from Adès to JH, with a photograph of the former’s marriage, is in file JH/PHO/3/4
