Field, John L.
John Field, nicknamed ‘Loji’, was an old friend of JH and served in the RNVR on HMS ‘Salvia’ in World War 2. He was killed in action in 1942. The three letters are from JH to John Field and give news of family and friends as well as of JH’s service activities. The first, dated 2.11.40, includes a graphic description of the damage caused to Lincoln’s Inn, where both JH and Field had rooms, by an incendiary bomb on 25.9.40.
