Scope and content
The UEA Literary Festival Archive (now UEA Live) is a collection of more than 450 audio and video recordings (VHS, DVD and digital) of major UK and international literary and other figures being interviewed before audiences at the University of East Anglia as part of its major year round literary festival. These include readings from the authors’ works.

The interviews begin in 1991 and include audiences with William Styron, Doris Lessing and Salman Rushdie in the first year. Until 2020, the Spring Literary Festival was hosted by the Centre for Creative and Performing Arts. Until 2019, the Autumn Literary Festival was hosted by the Arthur Miller Centre for American Studies. These events are now amalgmated as UEA Live.

Additions are made annually. Since 2017, the recordings are available digitally. Since the launch of the BACW, 10% of the earlier collection has been digitally remastered and more is planned.
