In it the 19 year old Pick is thanked for his “enthusiasm and perseverance in working territory generally acknowledged as far less productive even than that covered by the suburban traveller”. Also included is a 1945 report of Victor Gollancz Ltd.
Press cuttings cover the takeover of Illustrated Newspapers which included the publishers Michael Joseph by the Thomson organisation in 1961.
Contains correspondence and press cuttings relating to the proposed takeover of Jonathan Cape Ltd by Sir Allen Lane (Managing Director of Penguin Books), CP, Roland Gant, Peter Hebdon and Norman Collins (Deputy Chairman of Associated Television) in 1961. Included are articles of association for the company and details of the proposed scheme.
Later correspondence covers the 1962 appointment of CP as Deputy Managing Director of William Heinemann Ltd (its parent company being Thomas Tilling Ltd), and Roland Gant to the Board of Martin Secker & Warburg Ltd.
