Scope and content
How the diaries were found: on 28 November 1982, Ronald Titcombe invited Alistair Sloman, House Manager of the Melbourne Club, to his home. Harold Holt's diary was mentioned by chance. Alistair said that his grandfather, Maurice Sloman, was HH’s guardian and that the diary had been left to him. As Maurice Sloman was elderly, the custodian of the diary was W. Harrison, a partner in the firm Sherlock & Co., Chartered Accountants, 7th Floor, City Mutual Building, Colins Street, Melbourne. RT was granted supervised access.
