Titcombe, Ronald M., 1930-2001Administrative/Biographical history
Ronald Titcombe (1930-2001), was a former Royal Australian Navy Officer and AG’s source for his book The Prime Minister Was a Spy, in which he claimed Harold Holt (Australian Prime Minister) had spied for the Chinese most of his life. Furthermore, he suggested that HH had not drowned but had been led to a submarine, to live out his life in secret. In 1988, RT brought a libel action against The Observer for discrediting the PMWAS as a hoax. He was awarded a significant payout as The Observer was unable to prove he had acted in bad faith.
RT owned several marine and oil companies. He filed for bankruptcy on more than one occasion. He lived in Australia, and the Channel Islands and died in England in 2001.
