Concerns a study of the effect of heat treatment on fragmentation, using the 0.3 in. model bomb casing in 0.4% carbon steel. It was not found possible to trace a relationship between the degree of fragmentation and any measured properties of the material after heat treatment. Possible applications to anti-personnel weapons are discussed.

Report by the Safety in Mines Research Station, Buxton and the Department of Metallurgy, Sheffield University.
