Tests were made with 1 lb. and 8 lb. explosive charges buried in clay soil to investigate the nature of the detectable ground disturbance when the charges are exploded at depths sufficiently great to cause camouflets. The results showed that, in every case where a camouflet was obtained, there was an accompanying system of surface cracks. The application of the results to camouflets formed by certain German bombs is discussed. Tables and graphs are included.

Report to the Ministry of Home Security.
