Scope and content

Static fragmentation tests showed that the S.D.-2 bombs broke into a large number of very small fragments of low penetrating power. Telephone directories were employed to measure the fragmentation. The concentrations of fragments penetrating the directories, and their angles of penetration are recorded. The probability of the fragments causing incapacitation are estimated.
