This paper "summarises and extends the information already reported on the fragmentation of bombs (mainly German) of various types. Diagrams are given showing how the total mass of the fragments and their total energy is distributed in the various mass groups. Penetration curves are also given and assist in assessing the effectiveness of the fragmented bomb against any type of target. The data show that although the fragments of most frequent occurrence are very small, weighing only about 1 mg, the groups of fragments having the greatest total amount of energy are about 50 to 100 mg.. The estimated initial velocity of a 53 mg. fragment increases with the size of the bomb."
