A fragmentation trial was made on a German 50 kg. G.P. bomb which was detonated vertically with the nose on the surface of the ground. Targets covered with telephone directories were erected 25, 35, 50 and 70 feet from the bomb. Note was made of the depths to which the various fragments penetrated the targets, and measurements were made of the weights of the fragments and of their sizes as represented by the maximum projected area. Tables and graphs are included.
