Pochin, Edward Eric, recipient
Pochin relates Libessart's conclusions on the rising dust in front of a tank gun muzzle. He suggests it is caused by the gases, caused by the firing, which strike the ground in front of the muzzle. A deflector plate is suggested which would deflect the volume of gases striking the ground. SZ is advised to contact Galliot of the Ballistics Research Dept, Woolwich who was working on a muzzle brake designed to reduce the recoil of the gun. This brake redirects gases forward or backwards and may also solve the dust cloud problem.
