"Tests to determine the protection afforded to the ear by Service headphones show that when the ear passage faces towards the charge the headphones reduce the pressures experienced at the membrane of the ear by approximately 50 per cent for pressures above 6lb./sq.in.. At lower pressures the headphones offer no appreciable protection against blast."
