Thorneycroft has been warning the Air Staff for months that the technological advances required for the P.1154 are some way off, and very expensive. He feels it is far too late for the Air Staff to now realise that Thorneycroft was correct all along and imply that instead a foreign aircraft should be bought. In one week Thorneycroft must announce the government's decision. There are still cheeper alternatives, but if the P.1154 with a BS.100 engine is chosen then the Air Staff must take full responsibility.
