Quirk, Roger Nathaniel recipient
Discusses press reports of remarks made by Pagel and Bok regarding the southern telescope. Woolley's opinion is that the Royal observatory on the Cape of Good Hope should be fitted with a large telescope. If the status of the land is in question, given South Africa's recent move to become a republic, then the observatory could be moved to Australia. Discusses the Admiralty's control of British astronomy.
