Describes the TV screen of the future which can be as large as a living room wall and as flat as an oil painting on it. It could even be embedded in the plaster. The discovery of MBBA - the first chemically uniform, stable fluid crystal, liquid at room temperature, has made this possible. The crystalline liquid is placed in a flat sandwich cell between two glass plates with transparent, electrically-conductive coatings on the inside, and a picture can be produced.
