Jones comments on his Australian trip and the inadequate supply of ferrying aircraft, provided by the United Kingdom, to the Australians and New Zealanders to assist in their research trials at Woomera. Inadequate communication links between the United Kingdom and Australia and New Zealand were causing the two countries to approach the United States for arms supply. During his trip Jones was impressed bythe way the world had come to regard scientific achievement as a gauge of national prowess. He again proposes that a Ministry of Scientific Research and Development be formed.
