Owen regrets that SZ cannot undertake to pursue Tarver's case on the marking of cattle. The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, the State Veterinary Service and the Farm Animal Welfare Advisory Committee considered the welfare implication of Tarver's method to be unacceptable.
