Scope and content

Bunting reports on his progress in achieving some of the purposes of a proposed institute of tropical agriculture. SZ and he had first discussed such an institution in 1956. Bunting was appointed professor of agricultural botany at Reading University and he describes the progress and developments made there.

Bunting asks SZ if he could help speed up a proposal from the Ministry of Overseas Development that three of its home-based scientific units (Tropical Products Institute, Anti-Locust Research Centre, and the Directorate of Overseas Surveys) should be brought together at Reading.
