SZ would miss seeing Jerry Wiesner on his visit to Washington. The [United States Secretary of Defence, Robert] McNamara had visited [SZ] and had agreed to a "joint fund". SZ asks what Hawthorne's personal plans are. He comments on the suggestion that Chris Hartley succeed George Gardner [as Controller of Aircraft in the Ministry of Aviation].
