Crowne's note of 18/8/43 [SZ/BSU/2/1/89] failed to reach SZ before he left for England. SZ was having Crowne's sunglasses repaired in England and he would bring them on his return.

He mentions that arrangements were being completed for a strong survey team to proceed to Italy and Sicily to measure the effects of the Allied bombardments.
