Written in Algiers. Apologises for not having managed to meet SZ in Constantine. Mellanby had collected data from German wounded at the 94th General Hospital. An analysis would follow. He describes the unsatisfactory working conditions with no status or transport, and being dependent on headquarters' charity. Mellanby explains his interest in casualty survey work. He also comments on the working of the Army.
