Scope and content

Introduction to the report on Tripoli harbour. SZ also mentions his visit to the Middle East where he arrived in Cairo on 30/1/43 and stayed for four days. He and Bernal then flew to Tripoli, where he stayed for three weeks while Bernal was recalled after a week. SZ studied the effects of bombing on Tripoli town and harbour and made observations on the bombing of road convoys. He then returned to Cairo and spent a fortnight enquiring into sortie records. During that period he made a quick visit to Tobruk. SZ then returned to Tripoli for a week before moving on to Algiers. He returned to England on 22/3/43.
