Scope and content
Sir Charles Darwin requests Bernal and SZ to obtain information on explosive weights, collaboration between the Army and Air Force in the Middle East, bombing strategy, and anti tank mines. Bernal outlines the framework of the information which he and SZ hoped to collect; this included the tactical side of army air co-operation, and the efficiency of German weapons which includes damage suffered by ships as well as tank and gun damage. SZ hoped to get an analysis started on casualties in relation to fragment size. The attack on aerodromes would also form part of the enquiry. Tizard suggested an investigation into light A.A. fire and its efficiency, how far air transport had assisted the Germans in Tunisia, and the methods used by the Germans to contaminate sources of water. Comments by Wynter Morgan on his visit to the Middle East are included. Bernal stated that better maps of the area were needed.
