Tizard, Henry Thomas, recipient
According to John Fulton, the voluminous reports on Hiroshima and Nagasaki have yet to be abstracted. As a result they are still classified so neither he, nor Lewis Weed will be able to bring them to Britain. Fulton has also informed SZ that the US Atomic Energy Commission has promised funds for a ten year study by the NRC into the effects of the atom bomb in Japan. Three laboratories, two of them in Japan, will work on the project. According to Fulton, an official request from Tizard to Weed may result in the reports being released to the British authorities, although the new surgeons-general of the army and navy, Bliss and Swanson, are reluctant to take responsibility for releasing anything. The Nickerson Report is available, but again it is restricted.
