Alderman, B. recipient
Analysis by Dr Clarkson and Mr B. Alderman of a proposed plan to attack 33 marshalling yards from the point of view of: weapons to be used; estimated force needed to achieve the required bombing density; and number of operating days needed to achieve the objective of the plan, which was "to cause maximum disruption to the enemy rail communications system by the destruction of locomotives, trackage, rolling stock, and marshalling yard areas in general". The authors had consulted with "an expert of the British Railway Research Service.
The text refers to an attached list of marshalling yards which is absent. From the text it appears that targets were in Germany and France.
Annotated in MS by SZ "New File. 8 USAF. Estimates for Railway Attacks".
