With covering note, signed by Richard C. Sanders, Chief of Staff, US 9th Air Force HQ, 10/4/44, to the Commanding General 9th Air Force. The report was prepared in response to a request made verbally by General Quesada (Commander of the 9th Air Force) on 14/2/44 and looks at the destruction of a rail network as a tactical task, while acknowledging that either a tactical or strategic approach could be employed. The study is centred on a hypothetical attack on the rail system of the Pas de Calais area and considers weapons, aircraft types, attack tactics, and bombing accuracy and assesses the effort required.
