RD had two London addresses: 5 Cardozo Road, N7 9RJ and Flat 3 St Thomas’ Gardens, Kentish Town, London, NW5 4EX (basement flat).

STG was owned by Serena Inskip (RD’s partner) and it was agreed in 1988 when they were living together that RD’s contribution to the property would be recognised by Serena granting him a lease of the basement flat provided that he put it into good order. The yearly rent being a peppercorn (if demanded). When their relationship collapsed sometime in 1990 a formal lease agreement was entered into [see Solicitor’s letter].

The flat underwent extensive repair and renovation by RD and in 1999 Serena offered for sale her share in the property. The flat was leased by RD.

The papers include leases between Serena & RD; papers relating to repairs and renovations in the early ‘90s including certificates, building control inspectors’ fees, plans, sketch drawings by RD, planning permissions, and correspondence with neighbours and builders.

In a letter dd March 1995, Serena asks RD if he would like to buy her part in STG.

General insurance correspondence is included as well as a claim for front door repairs after a burglary in December 2002; brochures on fittings and furnishings; and property sales/ leasing brochures.

2005 papers include tenancy agreements, information on leasing to tenants on housing benefits, and to students. The flat was at one time leased to Tony and Bundle Weston [see also RD/GEN]. Also includes council tax payments, parking permits and papers on roof repairs.
