Pritchard, John Craven, recipient
Describes Walter Gropius' visit to Germany in 1936 to act as character witness in the trial of Dr. Wilhelm Guske. An official letter giving Gropius permission to work in England saved him from the Gestapo. At the Dutch border the reference to Dino Alfieri, the Italian Cultural Minister, had more influence than that of Lion Feuchtwanger. There are 2 Gropius Exhibitions on tour, one in America the other in Europe. Ise hopes it will eventually come to England. Reg Isaacs has received good reviews of his biography of Walter Gropius.
Ise reports that the Bauhaus Archiv has moved to Berlin. Reference to the children of Ati Gropius and Charles Forberg
