Describes the protests at the proposed merger of the Hochschule fur Gestaltung (HfG), inheritors of the Bauhaus tradition, and the local Ulm College of Engineering. Walter Gropius became involved during his visit to Stuttgart to open the "50 years of the Bauhaus" Exhibition. He told the students not to get involved in politics as his successor at the Bauhaus, Mies van der Rohe, did.
