Includes one offprint from the Journal of the Royal Society of Arts p. 75-94, one annotated draft 74pp. and one uncorrected proof for publication in the Journal of the Royal Society of Arts 5pp. Jack Pritchard discusses the influence of the industrial revolution on art and design and reactions against the machine "exemplified by William Morris and the Arts and Crafts Movement." He discusses the "positive attitude to technology" taken by the Arts and Crafts Movement in Europe and U.S.A. Jack Pritchard goes on to discuss Walter Gropius and the Bauhaus, its aims and ideas and Gropius' activities in England. Jack Pritchard calls for a "more dynamic attitude to design training" and a closer collaboration between art and technology.
