Scope and content
Typed final copy and draft copy of a lecture given at the Bauhaus Archiv in Darmstadt [by Jack Pritchard], 17/1/70. [Jack Pritchard] describes the arrival of Walter and Ise Gropius to England and discusses the effects of the industrial revolution on design in England through to the 1930's. He discusses the projects Gropius was involved with, including Impington Village College and Isokon Furniture Company Ltd. and Gropius' continuing influence on architecture and design in England. Jack Pritchard stresses that England is more creative and forward looking than in 1934 when Gropius first arrived and cites the National Research and Development Council as a good example.

Both copies of the lecture are heavily annotated. Final copy 19pp. with a list of accompanying slides and annotated quotation from Henry Morris and Nikolaus Pevsner attached. Draft copy 45pp. "pages 5,6,42 missing".
