Notes relating to the text of ‘De Profundis’ (a book which Wolfgang Hildesheimer gave to Crampton in 1948; copy at PC/4/7). The notes mention: Rudolf Hagelstange b. 1912 - the poems he wrote were illegally published and distributed among the German troops in the Verona area in 1944. Richard Scheid; The poet: Ricardo Huch; Werner Bergengruen. Additional (possibly unrelated) notes refer to the good shepherd and The Gospel according to St John.
