MS. 12 pages. 6 leaves. With envelope. Two enclosures: a poem and a note.
The enclosed poem begins: Do not enchant me; lead my feet along the dusty paths … [A copy is at PC/14/18].
The enclosed note from PC apologises for the late sending of the letter.
PC has visited the Vogels. Rations had been cut in Bavaria. She thanks her parents for the visit she and her friends, including [Charles] Mac[namara], made to their home. Mac had since gone to Basle. She suggests not seeing the film ‘The Chiltern Hundreds’. Hans and Hanna had got engaged.
Page 6 refers to the trial of Krupp (firm) and the Defense Counsel [i.e. Defence Council] who walked out of the court; and were then sent to gaol for the weekend.
Page 9. Mac had been offered a job starting at 12,000 Francs. She expected to still see him on weekends. He would start in Basel in March.
PC is writing the letter in an overly heated snack bar alongside the ice hockey field where Mac is playing.
