Cards from Dick Bruna
[1990-2013?]
36 items Greetings cards
Brattinga, Pieter, 1931-2004
A collection of mainly undated cards.
In one card DB writes “Thanks to you my English books are in rhyme at last. And in such a nice rhyme, so close to the original!” [1992?].
In reference to Ezelsoor he writes: "How clever you are! I thought it would not be possible to translate Donkey's Ear. But you did."
One card includes a photograph of Vera Marion Wood (nee Kells) [PC's mother] 1960s? PC writes that she stayed with her sister Jenny and their parents at a fishing hotel. [It's possible that she sent the photo to Dick Bruna and that he returned it in a card].
In an undated card DB expresses his wish that PC continues translating his books, while he works on new stories. “It gives me a safe feeling that Patricia’s translations are used for translations into other languages.”
Includes a postcard from Pieter Brattinga (founder of Mercis Publishing). The postcard includes a photo of Brattinga. “25 years is a long time to have worked together. To have done so with pleasure and in friendship is unique.”
