In May 2008 Mal Peet toured the Liverpool area, visiting libraries and community centres and holding workshops. His books were chosen as the focus for the 2008 Liverpool Reads, a city-wide initiative which aims to draw Liverpudlians together in enjoying a particular book. Over 10,000 free copies of Keeper were given away.
