Czechoslovakia -- History -- 1938-1945
Masaryk, Jan, 1886-1948 recipient
Jessie offers her services to Czechoslovakia in a time of national crisis. She includes references, a testimonial and a potted history of her suffrage activities.
“I … was shocked when I read of the betrayal of Czechoslovakia by Mr Chamberlain and the retrograde forces of Great Britain and France … If I was a man I would ask to enlist in your army …I believe I could be of far more use to you working under your banner, than working with the British League of Nations, or any other British political war organisation.”
She is willing to forgo her imminent trip to Australia as a member of a ship’s staff.
