JH/TRA/2/3/2 Some of the itineraries take the form of printed booklets that include such details as the marshalling order and composition of the Governor's special train. The contents are: Itinerary for visit to Gosaba, 16/2/37 Guest lists and dance card for a dinner party and dance at Government House, Calcutta, 15/2/37 Brochure descriptive of the Rural Reconstruction Institute, Sir Daniel Hamilton’s Estate, Gosaba, January 1937. Itinerary for visit to Chakdighi and Burdwan, 25/2/37 Tour programme of His Excellency the Governor of Bengal during March 1937, 3/3/37. Itineraries for visit to the State of Tripura (where their host was the Maharaja) 14/3/37 to 18/3/37 and other material relating to the visit, including address of welcome by S.C. Deb Barman, Chairman of the Agartala Municipality, 15/3/37; invitation to the opening, by Sir John Anderson, of the King George V Radiological Ward [Agartala V.M. Hospital, Tripura], 16/3/37; and invitation to the laying of the foundation stone of the extension to the Central Jail, Agartala, by Sir John Anderson, 17/3/37 Letter to Alistair Anderson, signed 'Billy' [Col. 'Billy' Butler, Military Secretary to the Governor of Bengal], 19/3/37, setting out arrangements for Anderson's and John Hill's visit to the New Theatre Film Factory, Tollywood, Calcutta. Invitation to opening by the Governor of the Sir John Anderson Casualty Block, Medical College Hospitals, Calcutta, 20/3/37. Seating plan for a dinner at Government House, Calcutta, 23/3/37. Itinerary for a visit to Darjeeling, 25/3/37 to 31/3/37. Letter to John Hill from Sairleswar Singh Roy, of Calcutta, 20/4/37, which had enclosed photographs of ‘the snow’ taken by Roy using a Rolleiflex camera [probably referring to photographs of Mt Everest taken at JH’s request]. Roy asks JH if he will send photographs of the forthcoming coronation of King George VI. Unused stationery headed ‘Governor’s Camp, Bengal’.
