Scope and content
JH and Edith Hill hold a general charitable covenant with the NCSS Benevolent Fund. Included is correspondence relating to the disbursement of these funds, and deeds of convenant for their annual contributions. Correspondence with certain charitable benefactors is included.

A bursary is set up in the memory of Edith Hill's late husband. This is called the Roger Luard Bursary and is for Marlborough College students to further their studies at Christchurch, Oxford. Luard was a past scholar at Marlborough.

JH offers advise for the restoration of the Wenhaston Village Hut in lieu of the fact that the NCSS has a special interest in village halls.

The NCSS appeal to JH for charitable assistance in upholding the service it offers as headquarters to the Citizens Advice Bureaux. JH declines as he feels that is a matter which should be sorted by the Treasury.

Other beneficiaries of the Hills' covenant with the NCSS include The Barristers' Benevolent Association, and the Artists' General Benevolent Institution.
