The collection contains photographs and photographic negatives of 1920s and 1930s Russian theatre productions and Russian stage design. It features the work of the Russian avant-garde designer Alexander Rodchenko; theatre, architecture and design.

All text and photograph captions are in Russian. The photographs are under various copyright including Cecilia Gray; Bauhaus-Archiv, Berlin; Sunday Times Magazine, etc.

This collection arrived in UEA Archives pre 2004. The material originated from the Sainsbury Centre and relates to an exhibition held at the Hayward Gallery in 1971 and the accompanying catalogue 'Art in Revolution: Soviet Art and Design since 1917, Hayward Gallery, London, 26 February to 18 April 1971.'
