Writes of the "absolute crassness of the whites ... towards blacks". Discusses people who learned Shona, "a kaffir-lover", and people who were interested in Shona culture, "kaffir-lovers". Writes of Tracey's father, who "was known to travel about listening to and recording Shona music". Mentions how he was spoken of "grudgingly". Writes that he lived with Africans whilst he learned their music, and "this was the unforgivable thing".
