Writes that all of Peter Owen's full-time staff "walked out" at the end of May, that they "had had enough". Writes that he and a few others have set up a new publishing house, Arcadia Books. Encloses a document of advance information about the first ten titles to be published (item 002), and asks Lessing if she will read through the page proofs and provide a quote if she "thought the book merited it".

Fax, 1 leaf, printed.
Writes that he was "shocked and extremely upset" by Lessing's letter (item 003). Details the extent of his "repeated humiliation and lack of gratitude" that he experienced by Peter Owen, and that he "did not expect this sort of attack" from Lessing.
