DL/A-Z//NUS/001 [from Enid Nusbaum to Doris Lessing, 14/11/1983]
Letter, 1 leaf, typed.
Writes to tell Lessing the life story of Nikolai and Elena Baranov, who share Lessing's birthday. Encloses a copy of the biographical sketch, 'A Family of our Time' (item 002) for Lessing to read. Writes that Lessing is under no obligation to do anything for them, but Nussbaum thought she would like to read it as they "have shown a level of courage, hope, endurance and humanity", believing that it might "fire the heart and the imagination" of Lessing.
DL/A-Z//NUS/004 [from Enid Nusbaum to Doris Lessing, 29/11/1983]
Letter, 1 leaf recto and verso, typed.
Thanks Lessing for her reply (missing). Implies that Lessing responded by asking if she could write to the Ambassador to help with the case. Mentions Amnesty International. Writes that she has had a letter from Margaret Thatcher.
