Letter, 1 leaf, typed.
Lessing writes that she is writing a novel, and that her heroine was born in Martinique. Asks for help in finding a name of "some local devils, or devil, or a baleful diety [sic]". Asks "perhaps there was, or is, a naturalised African spirit whose name would have been known".

DL/A-Z//MUSE/003 [from Michael O'Hanlon of Museum of Mankind to Doris Lessing, 02/11/1990]

Letter, 1 leaf, typed.
Writes to say that he has been unable to track down a name. Gives Lessing a list of possible texts to try. Encloses a document of copied pages from 'Morne-Paysan: peasant village in Martinique' by M.H. Horowitz (item 004).
