Mayers, Mary
is a postcard from Simon Cosgrove to Doris Lessing. He mentions life in Moscow.
is a letter from Lessing to Cosgrove. She attaches cuttings from the Zimbabwe Press Mirror, in exchange for [news] cuttings sent by Cosgrove. She mentions Zimbabwe, including this [about Robert Mugabe?]: "The old man is generally admitted to have gone bonkers." She mentions offering use of her flat to travel writer Jason Elliott.
is a letter from Cosgrove to Lessing, attached to a document [not here]: "You and Mary might find this interview interesting to look at." Cosgrove compares the missing interview to a passage of Crime and Punishment and quotes it extensively.
is a letter from Cosgrove to Lessing. He describes developments in his life in Moscow, including his girlfriend's pregnancy and a pending change in career.
is a printed email from Cosgrove to Mary Mayers. Cosgrove describes recent economic crises in Russia then narrates a tale of bawdy excess from the village he spends time in. Mary hand writes a note in Russian.
is a letter from Cosgrove to Lessing. He describes his recent wedding and the preparations for his wife's maternity. He mentions the economic crisis in Russia and the end of the Boris Yeltsin era. He describes passing his viva and receiving his PhD. He waxes melancholic in quite a touching manner about age and creativity and the pressures of society. He asks whether Lessing will get a new cat [previous letters frequently send his regards to Butchkin, presumably now deceased].
is a fax from Cosgrove to Lessing. He describes having moved back to Moscow with his wife and newborn daughter. He describes the Russian economic crisis.
is a fax from Cosgrove to Lessing, arranging to meet her when he is in London to get a new Russian visa.
