In 001 Chen thanks Lessing for replying to a previous request regarding her novel The golden Notebook, which she is translating into Chinese. She notes a potential error she made by using the word "chaos" in her preface instead of "plurality". She asks Lessing to provide a hand-written addition to the title page of her translation and requests a photograph. She mentions a potential meeting with Lessing in London later in July.
In 002 Chen mentions visiting Paris and arranges a visit with Lessing in London. She mentions that Chinese readers "only know Shakespeare, Dickens, Shelly, Byron" and know little contemporary English literature.
