Scope and content
is a letter from David Austin to Doris Lessing. He states that he attended a talk given by Lessing at the University of East Anglia on 13/11/1995. He introduces himself: "I am not a writer, I am a farmer", and states that he has written a story [likely 002, which may be attached to this letter or to something else predating 005, Lessing's reply].

is an untitled unfinished story by Austin [evidently shared with Lessing] that shares a main character, Robert Radnor, with the protagonist of Austin's novel A Clear Calling.

is a letter from Austin to Lessing. He thanks her for her "friendly note" and attempts to arrange a meeting in London.

is a greetings card from Austin to Lessing. He confirms meeting Lessing on 31/01/1996.

is a letter from Lessing to Austin. She discusses his work [probably 002]: "I've read this again, and I like it." She encourages him and advises him regarding story length. Mentions Penguin little books and gardening.

is a reply from Austin. He thanks her. Mentions Olive Shreiner and Africa.
