Scope and content
In 001, Andrew Nurnberg writes to Doris Lessing, discussing republication in Spain of Five Children of Violence, Briefing For a Descent into Hell, The Summer Before the Dark and The Grass is Singing. Rights in Italy are also mentioned.

In 002 Lessing replies to Nurnberg, discussing publication of the above works in Spain, Italy and Argentina. She mentions turning down an invitation to a conference organised by Innostrannaya Literatura [see DL/A-Z/AITMATOV, C/]. She mentions hearing that The Golden Notebook had been published in China before the Tiananmen Square massacre: “One day I suppose we shall have regularised literary relations with them.”

In 003, Nurnberg replies to Lessing. He approves of her turning down Innostrannaya Literatura: “We do a fair amount of business with them but they are still very much a mafia steeped in old traditions.” Mentions rights to Lessing’s work. Discusses copyright in China.
