001 is a letter from Nina Salter to Doris Lessing. Salter writes about translating Lessing's short stories. “You can not know what joy you have given me for the past week.” [perhaps referring to Notre Amie Judith]. Mentions Marianne Veron, translator of Le Monde de Ben and Le Carnet d’Or. Refers to an enclosed (lost) review of Le Cinquieme Enfant.

002 is an Albin Michel postcard, hand written, from Salter to Lessing. Mentions concurrent work on Notre Amie Judith and future work on African Laughter.

003 is a letter from Salter to Lessing. She praises Under My Skin: “I can't wait to publish it!” Mentions enclosed (lost) reviews of African Laughter.

004 is a fax from Tony Cartano. He requests to meet Lessing over a meal to discuss Love, Again. Lessing hand writes a request to meet at the Cafe Pelican.

006 is a fax from Cartano. Cartano attempts to arrange a meeting between Lessing and Valerie Duponchel of Le Figaro Litteraire.

007 is a letter with almann-Lévy letterhead. Salter commiserates Lessing for the poor reception to Love, Again. She questions the efforts put in by Albin Michel.

008 is an invitation to a screening of Un Siècle d’Ecrivains Doris Lessing by Paule Zajdermann. Cartano’s card is attached (“With compliments”). Invitation includes illegible hand-written note from Lessing to Brie Burkeman.

009 is a birth announcement card from Salter, handwritten. “I hope you are well, isn’t it terrible how Stuart has been treated?” [Likely Stuart Proffitt. See DL/A-Z//HARPER C/3].
