Scope and content
001 is a letter from Doris Lessing to “Professor D. Elmi” [Sayed Mohammad Yusuf Elmi] explaining that she cannot help with the printing of “the book” [presumably his pamphlet Afghanistan in the World Press, which includes an excerpt from Lessing’s The Wind Blows Away Our Words, or Lessing’s book itself] since she is being sued by the makers of “the ‘Everyman’ film” [presumably Jihad: Afghanistan’s Holy War, 1986] for libel. Includes a legally-required change to The Wind Blows Away Our Words that needs to be translated in Afghanistan in the World Press. Mentions Caught in the Crossfire by Jan Goodwin and Under a Sickle Moon by Peregrine Hodson.

002 is a periodical pamphlet, Afghanistan in the World Press 16, June 1987. Dari language. Includes translations of Lessing’s “The Strange Case of the Western Conscience” (excerpt from The Wind Blows Away Our Words). Also includes a 1986 review of Kara Kush by Idries Shah.
